About Kitty Clip
The Kitty Clip Spay/Neuter Assistance Program is funded by Friends of Wake County Animal Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The $15 cost to the applicant makes spaying and neutering owned and feral cats and kittens affordable for ALL pet owners in Wake County, North Carolina.
The goal of the Kitty Clip program is to help decrease the amount of unwanted births, thus lowering the euthanasia rate of cats and kittens at the county shelter. Spaying or neutering also helps to prevent certain feline diseases, making all cats happier, healthier pets.
The Kitty Clip program may change based on needs, funding and availability of clinics. Friends of Wake County Animal Center reserves the right to make changes or cancel this program at any time. To ensure we can continue this program for residents with the greatest need we have updated our policies.
Who is eligible for the program?
Any resident of Wake County, NC, with an unaltered cat or kitten (feral or owned) can apply. Cat colonies must be located in Wake County to apply for help with a feral colony.
Since this program is intended to help those who cannot afford the cost of spay/neuter, we ask that if your family income is above $125,000 that you do not apply. If you can afford to pay for your pet on your own, please do not apply.
Foster cats with a 501c3 rescue organization or an informal rescue who charges adoption fees or accepts adoption fee donations are not eligible for Kitty Clip. Stray/Feral cats who will be given to a 501c3 rescue to rehome after spay/neuter are not eligible.
If you are caring for a feral cat that will not become your personal pet, please do not apply for Kitty Clip until you have checked around for other resources that provide spay/neuter for feral cats for costs as low as zero dollars. If you are maintaining a colony of several cats, please apply if you need the help.
An application is required for each cat. Only 5 applications can be requested at one time. Once all five vouchers have been used you can apply for 5 more vouchers.
Vouchers will expire in 6 months so make your appointment right away. No extensions will be given.
Within 30 days (usually sooner) after receipt of your application we will respond via email about your application status. Once you are accepted into the program we will email your voucher(s) and information about how to contact participating clinics to get your feline spayed or neutered.
